OC Recreation & Wellness Centre Building
Community/Multi-Purpose Buildings
This project has been more than three years in the making. Okanagan College’s new Recreation & Wellness Centre began with early conversations, budgeting support, and concept planning long before construction started. Today, the steel is rising on what will be one of the most detailed and technically involved buildings MSC has ever delivered. The College’s vision called for a multi-use facility that brings together recreation, wellness, and community programming under one roof. The design includes gymnasium space, fitness and training areas, multipurpose rooms, and an indoor walking and running track—all confirmed on the College’s public project page. To support that scope, MSC is supplying and installing a hybrid structure that combines pre-engineered steel with conventional steel. The building is packed with custom elements, architectural features, and structural details that demand careful sequencing from first bolt to last. The project uses Behlen steel along with a Falk insulated metal panel system. This includes 6-inch insulated panel walls, a 6-inch insulated panel roof on the pre-engineered section, and a flat-deck insulated panel roof on the conventional steel portion. It’s the first time MSC has partnered with Falk on insulated metal panels, and the performance criteria of this building make it a strong fit. With many community donors helping fund the project, the Recreation & Wellness Centre will serve students and the wider region with upgraded space for sport, wellness, and recreation for years to come. Project Highlights Metal Structure Concepts (MSC) is a family-run steel building company serving Western and Northern Canada.
