When the time to build my dream shop finally arrived, we knew that a steel building would be the way to go, but we didn't know much about them since most of the builders in our area only do wood structures. A couple of years ago, I came up with the idea of building and getting involved with the construction of an office and warehouse to expand our company operations. We hired MSC to build our new operations and processing building for our commercial container forestry seedling nursery. I filled out the online quote request from the website and received a call back from Steve right away. He asked many, many questions about the project and answered all of my questions as well. He spoke to me like I was right there in the room, and we had known each other for years. I had never taken on a project like this before and Steve immediately made me feel comfortable. We hired MSC for the new warehouse on our Shuttleworth Creek Vineyard property. We chose MSC as they had built our production facility at our home vineyard about 15 years ago and had had a good experience then. I’ve been asked to describe my experience with Metal Structure Concepts on my recent shop build. It’s certainly had its ups and downs. More than anything it’s been an education in the 2018 BC building code. I highly recommend taking their advice and hiring a consultant for code review ahead of time. I personally had no idea what I didn’t know. With the scale of my new shop, going from 3 service bays to 6 and the large span required we opted for a metal building this time. As project manager for the site in Grand Forks B.C., we purchased MSC building 100’ x 125’. Construction took place summer/fall 2019, PHD crew did the foundation, ACG for earthworks and MSC supply and assembly of the steel building package. We recently worked with MSC on our new 72’x168’ steel fabrication facility in Canal Flats BC. From day 1 of this project from the planning, erection to finishing off, MSC was great to deal with. Country RV contracted MSC to design, supply and erect our flagship building back in 2008. The custom design included a showroom, parts department, mezzanine, offices and six service bays and was especially challenging as it involved a six acre site consisting of riparian work along a fish stream, a deceleration lane and a turn lane off Hwy 97. MSC did a fantastic job and no one would ever guess this is a pre-engineered steel building. If we ever expand, MSC will be the first call I make.

We are a construction company operating in Nelson BC. We mostly do foundations and framing. After doing 6 foundations for MSC buildings at a storage facility here in Nelson, I had a new outlook on steel buildings. I decided to use them for a customer's shop in Genelle. The price point was very good and the buildings are erected quickly. MSC are great to deal with all through the design process. We had two buildings installed for Big White Utilities. The installation and finished product were great, and the erection crew was very efficient and timely! Our building cost were good, with overruns in the engineering costs and construction of the footings. We used a steel structure for the sewer as it fits our current needs and will be moved in 7 years. Our overall experience with MSC was very good.

MSC did a large addition for us to an existing auto body shop in Kamloops. Being a renovation –this type of build can be extremely difficult. DW Builders, whose owner is the Past president of Canadian Home Builders of BC, is extremely meticulous when it comes to renos and strives for high standards. Dynamic Seeds of Fairview, Alberta, purchased the building from MSC in 2015. The project was 50 ft long x 55 ft wide x 65 ft high at the peak. MSC sent staff to ensure the foundation met specifications before building and to offer their services. The pricing was very competitive, and there were no surprises at the end of the build. The project was completed efficiently and on time, as per the contract. The staff was very friendly and easy to work with, and at no time did we have trouble contacting Steve with any questions and/or concerns. He was always ready to answer our questions. One important thing to note: when the job was completed, the yard site was left clean and neat – such a welcomed surprise! We hired MSC after consulting with past customers and hearing how efficient and easy to work with they are…we were also impressed with their adherence to timelines and prices. So, we contacted MSC to help with the construction of two buildings. Our first project was a warehouse/sales building, and the second project was to erect our sausage kitchen and packaging facility expansion. To no surprise, both projects were managed well and came together even better than expected (despite the weather in Northern BC). The management and staff were very helpful throughout both projects – both in the planning and construction phases. In 2011 NCC Development Limited issued an RFP for the design build of a 5 bay, 6000 sq' storage facility in Iqaluit NU. The RFP was for a supply and installation. Olympia Steel was the chosen supplier and they highly recommended Steve and his MSC crew. Within a week the deal was done for the erection contract. The building went very well and I was impressed with the production and quality of their work. MSC and their crew also stepped up to the plate to help with a few lingering issues we had, it was our first building like this and there were a few growing pains to be sorted out. MSC made the changes in a timely manner and at no cost to us. I appreciated how they honoured their work in such a remote location that is 3 time zones away from their home base. The relationship was then established and we utilized their services for two more warehouses at 9000 sq' each and also utilized their services for the completion of a special project in Iqaluit, a media studio. MSC is and will be our one and only erection team for steel in the north. When our next project comes up we will also look at a supply and install. The level of professionalism and care showed by the team makes the decision easy for me to choose to work with them again and to utilize more services that they offer.

I purchased a building from MSC in 2013. We choose MSC after checking references, touring MSC buildings and personally interviewing Steve Ivanitz. In January 2014, Steve Ivanitz (Project Manager) completed the Powell River Project in a 3 month span. This complex project required detailed coordination of trades and schedule flexibility to maintain the ongoing operations of the facility. We engaged MSC to complete the Pre-Engineered building component of a Welding Facility for Okanagan College in Penticton, BC. The building included multiple building systems with which the pre-eng structure had to integrate, and their ability to adapt to suit the design intent was very important. This included specific architectural features, other structural systems, specialized equipment, and LEED certification requirements. Not only was MSC able to coordinate their design seamlessly with other consultants, they also delivered and installed their building on schedule and within budget.
